I have long admired your
magazine’s dedication (to Kuta-Legian-Seminyak etc Nightlife) and
professionalism. It really delivers …….. for its
target audience.
In your latest editorial
(included below with liberal annotations from my associate Shamiana Shirazi
of the Shiva Shen Taste Police) I detect an emmerging voice that is
disturbing, however.
While we
are all here on the island happy to have you directing the young at heart
towards treats and space-age happenings, we prefer not to hear your
opinions▬and I'm quite sure I'm speaking for the masses here▬on Bali in general, especially when they
are presented as authoritative drivel.
KEEP YOUR FOCUS NARROW is
my advice, at least until you grow up.

The
world’s moving fast. If you’re not careful it can race away without you, that
is, if you are interested in following it at all.
There’s a lot of
interesting things happening on this island. WHAT WOULD YOU KNOW The roads are bad, the town
planning is sick, the place is a mess, but we love it that way.
IS THIS THE ROYAL "WE” OR THE

the region, been to Singapore,
Hong Kong, Perth,
KL and Jakarta.

SO MUCH IN COMMON WITH BALI. NOT....... We were interested in having UGANDAN RELATIONS BUT SPENT MOST OF THE TIME
AT STARBUCKS READING MAXIMs. HA! (I mean
that in a nice not a nasty way)....a look and see exactly what’s
going on in our neighborhood and you know what? It’s all pretty exciting but
there’s certain sameness about everything. The same shops, the same malls,
the same brands, the same fast food, the same road networks. THE SAME WHITE TRASH MOVING IN ON TRADITIONAL
ASIAN VALUES (like humility and commonsense)........Makes
you wonder who or what is controlling things....WELL YOU'RE NOT, DEAR, NOR ARE YOU LIKELY TO EVER FIND OUT.HA
!.. Here, it’s different, it’s all different. We have variety....YEH!! PEOPLE FROM 60 COUNTRIES IN
IDENTICAL HIPSTERS GOING "YO YA MEAN FUCKER BLOW ME"....
Nothing’s the same, from one day to the next, nothing’s the same....YEH,GOTYA THE FIRST TIME, THE FIRST TIME Maybe
this is unnerving for the majority of humanity but we love it (even tho
sometimes it does get a bit shaky). Obviously, there are a few things that
need attention but we have the feeling that some of those points are being
looked at right now....HONEY.
